Matteo Di Giovanni received a PhD in Graeco-Arabic Studies from Yale University in 2015. He also holds a PhD in Philosophy issued in 2008 by the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Italy. His PhD dissertation on the Aristotelian tradition in Arabic philosophy was completed under the supervision of Prof. Dimitri Gutas. His research interests include Ancient and Medieval philosophy and theology (Greek, Arabic, and Latin), Islamic intellectual history, Classical and Classical Arabic textual criticism. He has published on Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and philosophy in the Islamic West in journals, collected volumes, and the Oxford Handbook of Medieval Philosophy. Matteo was awarded the 2013 Yale University Theron Rockwell Field Prize, and the Horwitz Prize for his dissertation in 2015.
