Jonas is a student in the Arabic Humanities specialization. He is particularly interested in Arabic geographic literature, cartography, and the history of the Maghreb. He did his undergraduate degree in Arabic and Politics at the University of Edinburgh and received an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University of London. After a couple of years acting as a policy advisor for the British government, he is returning to his true passion for Arabic. His dissertation will focus on the immensely popular 15th century geographic and cosmographic work by Ibn al-Wardī.
