Hassan Elzawy is a PhD student in Egyptology. Elzawy graduated with a BA in Egyptology and Marketing from the American University in Cairo (AUC). He was awarded the Chevening scholarship to pursue his MA in Egyptian Archaeology and Heritage at University College London (UCL), where he specialized in settlement archaeology. Elzawy was awarded the Margret Murray Award for his dissertation research from UCL. He has worked for over eight years on various cultural projects, publications, museums, and archaeological excavations. These experiences have allowed him to merge his passion for Egyptian culture, both ancient and modern, with his interests in domestic spaces, social identities, food production, gender, and transmission of culture. He was recently featured in GQ Middle East Cairo Community Profile on rising Egyptians in the creative field.
