Yale in Egypt is dedicated to the study and exploration of the civilizations, languages, and history of the Nile Valley and its desert hinterlands from prehistory to late antiquity. Current expeditions include the Elkab Desert Survey Project, the Yale Monastic Archaeology Project North (Wadi al-Natrun), and the Yale Monastic Archaeology Project South (Sohag). Other projects have included excavations in the Luxor and Aswan areas.
