Discover the enchanting world of Arabic shadow puppetry! Join us in exploring this ancient art form, presented by Egyptian scholar Nabil Ahmed. Ahmed will share his expertise on the history, techniques & cultural significance of Arabic shadow puppetry. Attendees will get a hands-on opportunity to create a short sketch using state-of-the-art shadow puppets and activate using Arabic with expert guidance.

About the speaker;

Dr. Nabil Ahmed is an Egyptian scholar with a Ph.D. in Arabic Studies, specializing in Arabic theater and literature critique. His research explores Arabic theater, Arabic poetry, and Egyptian folklore while examining the socio-political dimensions of these art forms. He is also passionate about the intersection of puppetry arts and language teaching. Beyond academia, Dr. Ahmed is a theater playwright and director. He wrote over 30 plays that were performed in almost 20 countries, and recently, in the United Nations. His exhibitions of Egyptian traditional puppets are showcased in museums worldwide, with a permanent corner at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.
