On 16 April 2011, the Department co-organized and co-sponsored the second in the Global Past series. This international symposium addressed issues concerning the fate of art and antiquities during times of war and shock, beginning in the ancient world and continuing to the present day. The program included talks by seven speakers, as well as a special U.S. showing of a documentary film on material from Mali.
