Ulla Kasten studied Classical Archaeology. She started her work at Yale in 1974 as Museum Editor. In 2000 she became Associate Curator of Yale’s Babylonian Collection. For many years Ulla participated in the Tell Leilan (Syria) excavations with Professor Harvey Weiss. She has translated numerous books from various languages. Along with Professor Benjamin Foster Ulla mounted many exhibitions, including Treasure from the Yale Babylonian Collection at Yale’s Beinecke library in 1998. She edited more than a dozen books for the Babylonian Collection. Since her retirement in 2015 Ulla became a Visiting Fellow at Yale where she continues to research and mentor students and colleagues.
